Letourneur Conseil > Remediation by excavation

Pollution treatment by excavation is a soil clean-up technique involving the removal of contaminated soil.

The pollution treatment by excavation process first involves mapping the contaminated area. Contaminated areas are then excavated and the waste transported to appropriate treatment or storage facilities.

After excavation, an analysis is carried out to determine whether contaminant levels comply with current regulatory standards. If not, excavation can be repeated until contaminant levels are acceptable.

As part of an on-site or off-siteother treatment methods can be used, such as anaerobic biostimulation, bioventing, composting, containment, thermal desorption, vacuum extraction, incineration, landfarming, chemical washing, chemical oxidation, phytomanagement, pyrolysis, chemical reduction, stabilization, stripping, biological treatment or granulometric sorting.
