Historical, documentary and memorial studies of the site - Mission A110 The aim of the historical and documentary studies is to reconstruct, through history, the industrial and/or agricultural practices and activities of the study site and its surroundings. The search for activities likely to have induced pollution, whether directly on the site or indirectly through migration from the site's surroundings, will therefore extend beyond the boundaries of the study area. This information gathering enables us to identify potentially polluted areas and to determine the types of pollutants potentially present in the environment (soil, groundwater, soil gas, etc.) in the vicinity of the site concerned.

Various types of services are consulted to gather useful and relevant details for historical studies, such as: BASOL (Database of polluted or potentially polluted sites and soils) and BASIAS (Database of former industrial sites and service activities) databases, SIS (Soil Information System), ARIA (industrial accidents), etc.; IGN; Prefectures, DREAL, ARS, town halls.Historical studies can also be used to identify any restrictions or constraints on use that may be imposed on the site. Time is the guiding principle in this process, which must take into account all the activities, industrial or otherwise, that have taken place on the site.

The aim of the historical analysis of the site is therefore to identify: the successive activities on the study site; their precise locations; environmental management practices. Environmental vulnerability study - Mission A120 The purpose of the vulnerability study is to assess the vulnerability and sensitivity of the site and its environment to potential pollution. The environmental context is studied from several angles: Climatology; Geomorphology; Topography; Geology; Hydrogeology; Hydrology....
