Conceptual exposure diagram

The conceptual exposure diagram is a generally graphic representation that provides a schematic view of the various possibilities of exposure to pollution, in relation to the activities and uses observed or chosen.

The environmental diagnosis, as well as the Management Plan and Interpretation of the State of the Environment, result in a conceptual diagram illustrating the state of the environment or site under consideration, and making it possible to specify the relationships between: the sources of pollution; the different transfer media and their characteristics, which determine the extent of pollution; the issues to be protected: local populations, uses of the environment and the environment, the exposure media, and the natural resources to be protected.
The conceptual diagram provides a factual assessment of the state of the environment, and enables us to understand the relationships between pollution sources, transfer routes and the issues to be protected. It's an iterative, evolving process. The conceptual diagram evolves in line with the data acquired, and forms the basis for defining the appropriate actions to be taken.
