Standard NF X 31-620-2, code A330, sets out the requirements for identifying the various possible management options and carrying out a cost/benefit assessment as part of pollution management.

This standard stipulates that the various possible management options for reducing pollution must be identified and evaluated. Once the management options have been identified, a cost-benefit analysis must be carried out to determine the economic viability of each option. The cost-benefit balance must take into account the costs of implementing each option, as well as the environmental, health and economic benefits associated with pollution reduction.

Standard NF X 31-620-2 under code A330 also stipulates that indirect costs, such as maintenance and operating costs, must be taken into account in the assessment of management options.

Finally, the standard requires that the results of the assessment of the different management options be presented in a clear and concise manner, so as to enable stakeholders to understand the advantages and disadvantages of each option.
