Letourneur Conseil > Removal of doubt

The LEVE mission (mission globale levée de doute) is used to determine whether or not a site falls within the scope of the national methodology for managing polluted sites and soils. Not all sites in France fall within the scope of the national methodology for managing polluted soils. A site falls within the scope of the national methodology for managing polluted sites and soils if, and only if, it has been the site of industrial and/or service activities (landfills, mining sites, industrial sites, storage areas, etc.) or of activities likely to generate pollution, such as industrial estates. In cases where the removal of doubt confirms that a site falls within the scope of the national methodology for managing polluted sites and soils, the next step is to characterize any pollution by means of a site visit (mission A100) and a historical, documentary and memorial study (mission A110). These studies can be supplemented by an in-situ diagnosis to identify potential pollution. If the removal of doubt enables the site to be excluded from the list of potentially polluted sites, its management does not fall within the scope of the methodology and the site can therefore be disposed of without further study.
